How It Works

Our VPS cluster, or cloud, is based on the latest Citrix XenServer platform. This software enables us to run a large number of virtual machines on a powerful and redundant hardware platform with the highest possible reliability and performance.

The Nodes

The nodes are the servers on which the virtual machines actually run. There is ample capacity on the cluster to handle the failure of one or more nodes, or to facilitate maintenance, by migrating virtual machines to alternative physical nodes whilst they are still running.

A typical node specification cosists of 2 * Quad Core 5500 series Intel Xeon processors and 24GB or more of RAM delivering blistering performance.

The Storage Network

All the nodes connect in to the Storage Area Network (SAN) in order to allow the sharing of virtual machine disk images across the hardware nodes. Without this shared storage it would not be possible to migrate virtual machines between physical nodes.

Your virtual machine disk will be stored on a RAID array within the SAN, delivering efficient and fault tolerant storage.
